46. Milthorpe, Shilitoo wood and Holmesfield. 5th March 2014.

Parking at Shilitoo wood from the road junction heading north along the path parallel to fox lane turning right at Carr road heading east through Smeekley wood. Taking a path north east to Horseley gate lane to Holmesfield. We paused to watch the demolition of the house on the corner then onto The Angel public house where we enjoyed a pint and a sherry on the verander taking in the wonderful views. A bit further down the road we took the path south down through the fields to Millthorpe and the Royal Oak which unfortunately wasn’t open so we ate our sandwiches in the beer garden. South down the lane to find the path through Rose wood and meekfields wood ( that’s a lot of wood!) emerging at the southern end to Moorhall and turn right ( west ) to far lane and back to Shillito wood where we stopped a while to watch the colourful yellow hammer birds.
