60. The Roaches and Ramshawe Rocks peak district walk

60. The Roaches and Ramshawe Rocks 6th June 2014.

Parking on the road below the roaches above windy gate we took the footpath up around Rockhall heading north west to Doxey pool where we heard the illusive cuckoo. Past Doxey pool and along The Roaches past a trig point then down Bearstone Rock. From the junction of paths we headed directly north then bearing right as the paths forked heading off towards Gold Stitch House. Taking the path with Black Bank Farm to our left, extremely muddy! Up to the road following this south then east to The Winking Man and sank a couple of drinks in the blink of an eye. On leaving the pub south down the A53 then taking a path on the right at Stake Gutter. We were now on The Churnet Way heading for Ramshawe Rocks where we ate our sandwiches with fantastic views. We then headed down and round through the religious building Naychurch to Upper Hulme but Ye Olde Rock Inn was closed. Boo! Trogged back up to the car.
