66. Combs and Castle Naze peak district walk

66. Combs and Castle Naze. 10th july.

From the B5470 turning down the lane on the west side of the reservoir to park in the car park we set off south east on the reservoir path almost to the end of the reservoir then taking the path virtually south under the rail line through the tunnel then left along long lane to Combs and The Beehive for a nice cool pint and a sherry. Heading south east on the lane out of the village on Cowlow Lane past Rye flatt Farm then the lane twists east then north then east again.. but mostly up ! The path on the right leads up to Castle Naze. Fantastic views from these rocks overlooking Chapel en le Frith, Whaley, Chinley and beyond. Back down the steep rocky path and across the road taking a path northwest passing by Bankhall Farm. The road heads north under the railway line again then left following a path a little way after Marshgreen Farm heading north west past Marsh Hall. West across the golf course to The Hanging Gate Inn for some lip smacking, thirst quenching, ace tasting, motivating, good buzzing, cooltalking, high walking, fast living, ever giving, cool fizzing…. beer! Heading west down the main road back to the road by the reservoir.
