76. Grindleford and Eyam 18th September 2014.
Parking on the B6521 south side of Grindleford we headed south taking New Road on the right then a tree lined track on the right. The track joins Riley Lane passing the Riley graves on our right then through Riley Wood which joins New Road taking a road on the right then right again up Riley Back Road to a path which joins Edge Road stopping briefly to see Monpesson Well on the right before proceeding up Edge Road and right onto Sir William Hill Road. A long straight road then winding into Grindleford and The William Hill inn for a drink. We decided it was time to eat and chose a bench opposite the pub but a not very timely cesspit draining van right next to us forced us the finish our sandwiches down by the bridge in a nice paved area surrounded by roses. So we actually did come out of it smelling of roses! That’s a first! A short walk up the road through Grindleford and back to the car.
