86. Lyme park peak district walk

86. Lyme park. 19th November 2014.

Parking in a layby at the top of Holmes Wood Lane heading across higher lane and taking the path west across Sweet Hill then left on The Gritstone Trail a short way then continuing east along a path then left on Moorside Lane then first right along a path past some buildings. Right onto Shrigley Road and as the road bends round to the right we took a path on the left along The North Cheshire Way to the canal over the bridge, taking a right at the junction to The Miners Arms on Wood Lane where we had some fun with a deer printed cushion, I don’t usually like cushions but this one was definitely my favourite. Back down Wood Lane turning left then taking a left down onto The Middlewood Way heading north to the old station then taking the path left and up to The Boars Head pub for beer and sherry. Then east up the road to a duck and grandparent infested part of the canal to eat our sandwiches. Over the bridge then following the lane to the edge of Lyme Park Hall and continuing south east along The Gritstone Trail over the moor past the Bowstones and Bowstone Gate where we were surprised to see so many deer closer than expected. Carrying on east to Higher Lane and back to the car.
