89. Strines Reservoir, Brogging and Moscar heights peak district walk

89. Strines Reservoir, Brogging and Moscar heights. 12th December 2014.

Parking in a sort of layby on the track at Moscar heights we headed west past Moscar Cross Farm on the left then taking a path right up Moscar Road then west across Sugworth Road and right on the road north to the aptly named Strines Inn where we chatted to a couple of fell runners and found out that there are secret stashes of whiskey along fell running routes throughout the high peak….interesting! Continuing along the road which winds around the hillside then taking the road on the right and at Brogging House next to the Dam taking the path east and across the footbridge at the bottom. Across another footbridge heading south west back towards the dam along the Sheffield Country Walk which we followed to the tower and on to Sugworth Hall. The tower was full of sheepmuck and we decided that we wouldn’t be able to finish our sandwiches in there before passing outfrom the smell. Onward to Sugworth Hall via the rhododendron tunnelled path which exited on the drive beyond the hall to the gate then turning right along Sugworth Road then left through the fields which were extremely boggy then left along the track and back to the car.
